You asked for it, you got it! More Longevity!! Join us for Part 2 of Kristina’s Workshop on Longevity, Sunday, April 14th 2-4pm, at the YogaNestVenice! (Updated date!) And if you missed Part 1, do not worry, you’ll get just as much information, if not more!
Movement & exercise is absolutely the most powerful tool we have for longevity, it might be the most potent “drug” we have for extending the quality and perhaps quantity of our years of life. My framework for exercise is built upon four pillars: stability (balance), strength, aerobic training, AND mindset! I can acheive much of this through my yoga practice. And I am going to show you how to add some key components to your practice to extend your longevity.
I never want anybody to think, “I’m too old to do yoga or I can’t do what she does.” I think as long as you’re breathing, breath is yoga, you have the foundation! In my regular “Power Vinyasa” class, we may challenge ourselves a bit aerobically. In this workshop, I’m going to break things down a bit more, showing how aspects of yoga help our stability and strength for longevity.
For me, longevity means training for brain health as well as physical, and adding the mental, social, and spiritual elements while physically moving has been scientifically proven to multiply the benefits of exercise alone. But in addition, some specific movements, show an increase in neuro activity while practicing yoga. Not to mention, the benefits of goal setting, managing emotional stress, and overcoming challenges!
Neuro-specific yoga moves for increased strength, balance, and endurance. More insight into the lifestyle elements that shape the quality of our lives. Learn the critical elements to age the way we want to, to live our best versions of ourselves well into a long healthy life!
Be sure to go to the YogaNestVenice online to sign up!
If you’ve been in my class, you know I talk about this a lot, usually around the 5th minute in chair-pose (*joke) as we burn the tapas and get into some Svadhyaya (self-study). It’s one of the many aspects of yoga that I love, diving deep into our selves, finding out what our inner dialogue is. Mindset is everything!! In every part of our lives! How we face life! How we face relationships? How we face our goals! How we face challenge and adversity! And what I’m focusing on now… how we face aging! Do you know your mindset towards aging can mean as much as adding or detracting 8 years from your lifespan?! And as I always say, it’s not how long we live, but HOW we live, so let’s face it feeling and knowing, WE ARE AT OUR BEST!
Sunday morning comforts for me usually involve some quiet reflection, meditation, a little reading, and my coffee. I’m known for my lattes!
I met Lance Schuttler, the founder of Ascent Nutrition, a couple months ago on my retreat and I was so impressed with his products and his commitment to purity. We quickly formed a friendship and a partnership over shared beliefs and values! So now, my coffee, and a new addition, Agarikon mushroom, is a must for me! Once you taste real pure coffee, there’s just no other way to have it! Check out these amazing benefits of Agarikon, including lung, respiratory, and immune support!
Go to my Products I Love page for some quick easy links to the products I use personally, and go to Ascent and use code “Kristina” for an extra discount!

If you guys have followed me for a while, you’ve noticed l’ve never taken an offer to affiliate or endorse any product. It has to be completely in line with what I practice and what I believe, and something I use personally. I appreciate your trust, whether it’s what I say in one of my classes, or what I post on sm.
Thanks for that trust! BUT NOW… I am excited to collaborate with this amazing company, Green Drop Compression! An incredible line of compression sleeves and tape for injuries and muscle pain relief, designed to heal in a new way to increase mobility and recover faster, a way to be free from the limitations of muscle & joint discomfort and get back to an active life.
I’ve had so many injuries over many years, and the greatest pain beyond the injury, is just wanting to get back out there! The amazing part is, Green Drop is completely holistic and natural and heals leveraging recent advances in science and technology, offering an infusion of natural healing, high-performance compression, and cutting-edge technology. Elevate your well-being, push your limits (and if you’re in my class, you know we love to blow past our limitations), and experience the transformative synergy of GREEN DROP‘s commitment to your holistic health.

POV: the stretch that hits just right when you’ve been lifting a 6’1 young man around the house !
About 20 years ago my life was imploding, I was a single mom taking Charlie to every Dr who would let me in… Finally one said, “You need to go to yoga.” I think my response was somewhere around “WTF?’ Do I look like I have time for yoga?!” She said “No, you need to breathe!”
Many years later I still keep coming back to that advice & my favorite mantra, Om Mani Padme Om. In Buddhism it refers to the jewel in the lotus that rises from the mud. One may argue my reference, but in this case, the jewel is about spiritual awakening, but also clarity & compassion. The mud is our human experience, maybe our hardship or stress. None of us can escape the mud. We cannot change the mud. But without the mud would there be a lotus?! It rises above the mud with grace & beauty & doesn’t wear the mud it’s been through.
This week I am in some mud. I find myself living on adrenaline, tightening up, pacing, worrying. But in the moments in between, I remember to take a conscious breath, to feel my grounding, the lift up, one breath at a time, & rise above our circumstance, to grow with clarity & compassion.
I use this same thought on my mat. We know often yoga & life are parallel. When we are in q challenging pose or hold, or in the mud, what are our patterns, do we grip, tighten, shorten our breath, lose our focus? Can we make the conscious choice in the moments in between. Maybe it’s why I love transitions, it provides us the opportunity for that choice. When we live in a fight-or-flight pattern, this sounds impossible. But like in yoga, it takes practice and consistency. The practice is to notice & acknowledge the mud, not become it. Each breath is a choice. We rise not by force but by awareness. Close your eyes, feel the earth, slow the breath, imagine the stem rising with every breath, lifting, blossoming.
We are not the mud we walk through. We are the lotus tbat grew from it.
Let’s lotus up!
See ya on the mat! 💫
